The San Gabriel Fly Fishers club had an outing at this park on Saturday. Unfortunately, only two people showed up, Clint and I. We got on the water at about 8:30 a.m. and fished until about 10:00 a.m. We both fished, me in my canoe and he in his kayak, in the small cove to the right of the boat launch ramp. Neither one of us caught anything, nor even had a good strike. It was a beautiful day to be on the water: cool, no wind, high overcast; but no fish. We talked to two bass boaters as they were trailering their boats, and their fishing day was no better than ours.

Clint and I discovered several days later that the rest of the SGFF crew went to a different boat launch spot on Stillhouse Hollow. The two launch spots are less than a mile apart, as the crow flies or the kayak paddles, from each other, but neither subgroup was aware that the other was there. The others had about the same fishing luck that Clint and I did.
